Reflections on the art of novel writing.
The process is a unique blend of deep human curiosity and strong story teller's approach. It begins with structural integrity, where the meticulous, analytical mind plots the framework and pacing, much like designing a complex machine.
Yet, the true art lies in filling that structure with life—exploring the Labyrinth of the Mind to capture authentic emotion and mythic resonance. It’s about channeling the chaotic energy of the human spirit into a compelling, unforgettable, and coherent narrative, ensuring the reader's imagination is actively engaged throughout the journey.

Fiction.
Mystery, Horror, Crime, Thriller, Supernatural Etc
I always have very energetic, and involved writing experience in these Genres. The core approach involves fusing the intellectual puzzle of a Mystery with the visceral urgency of a Thriller and the primal fears of Horror.
Mystery, Crime, and Thriller Elements
-
The Puzzle and the Lie: Mystery writing is the art of "framing lies", where the author meticulously lays out clues to deceive the reader, revealing the truth only in a Big Reveal. The reader plays a game of observation and deduction alongside the sleuth.
-
Protagonist Isolation: To intensify the narrative, the Thriller isolates the protagonist, stripping away their resources—be it an ally, communication, or a means of retreat—to heighten their vulnerability and dread.
-
The Ticking Clock: Thrillers thrive on suspense and a "race against time". The story asks, "Will we stop the bad thing from happening in time?". This urgency converts the puzzle into a high-stakes chase.
-
Antagonist Focus: Often, the story is better plotted by first outlining the villain's actions and motives, and then figuring out how to drip that information to the protagonist.

Non-Fiction
Self-Help, Biography, History, Science and Technology Etc
The approach begins with Structural Integrity, much like designing a car. The writer must first engineer a clear, logical framework, that categorizes and simplifies complex psychological concepts for the reader. This analytical approach builds trust, assuring the reader that the advice is rooted in system, not just vague philosophy.
The true art is in the Human Connection. To tame the "Labyrinth of the Mind" in self-help, the writer must use empathy and narrative. This is achieved by:
-
Relatable Experience: Grounding abstract concepts in relatable personal experience, such as your own paradox of professional competence versus internal chaos.
-
Thematic Anchors: Using timeless, powerful narratives and metaphors (like the Hindu Puranas in Gods, Demons, and Me) to externalize inner emotional struggles, making them accessible, non-judgmental, and memorable for the reader.
The goal is to translate complex internal mechanics into actionable blueprints, moving the reader from a passive, confused state to an active, empowered "architect" of their own emotional structure.

Stage Drama
Self-Help, Biography, History, Science and Technology Etc
Writing for the stage is primarily an exercise in structured focus and concentrated impact. Unlike a novel, which uses descriptive prose, drama relies entirely on what the audience sees and hears in a single, confined space.
Structure and Economy
-
Engineering the Time: A drama is governed by a strict time limit, making narrative economy crucial. Every line of dialogue, every stage direction, must serve a concentrated purpose, moving the plot or revealing character with maximum efficiency.
-
The Power of Dialogue: Dialogue is the primary tool, carrying the full weight of the story, action, and internal turmoil. The playwright must master authentic and emotionally resonant exchanges, transforming conversation into conflict and character exposition.
Impact and Connection
-
Physicalizing the Conflict: The writer must externalize the Labyrinth of the Mind (internal conflict) into tangible, visible actions on stage. Emotions like anger or fear cannot be merely described; they must be performed and seen through blocking, voice, and physical presence.
-
Audience Engagement: Drama fosters a unique, immediate connection, demanding the audience's active imagination in a collaborative space. The writer provides the framework, but the actors and audience bring the world to life, making the performance a shared, intensely focused experience. The goal is a maximum emotional payoff within a tight, controlled structure.
