Pachai Kal Puzzle

"Pachai Kal Puzzle" is a funny stage drama about Murali, an honest printing press clerk, who desperately wants money for an apartment down payment. Unfortunately, his chaotic family has terrible, get-rich-quick schemes. His dad, Ramasamy, is a fake horoscope reader ; his sister, Latha, is an over-spending shopaholic ; and his brother-in-law, Raghu, is a useless MBA graduate obsessed with "strategic" plans. Murali's wife, Vasanthi, is just trying to keep everything organized despite her OCD.

They all travel to their ancestral temple. There, four thieves are planning to steal the famous "Pachai Kal" (Green Stone) idol. However, one by one, Latha, Ramasamy, Raghu, Vasanthi, and Murali all secretly approach the thieves (or plan on their own) to swap the original idol for a "Made in China" duplicate to get a share of the expected reward.

At the night of the heist, all five family members, thinking they are the only brilliant masterminds, deliver their own identical duplicate idols to the confused thieves. When the police arrive, the temple trustee, Chella Puli, reveals the truth: the original idol is always kept safely in a bank locker! The idol in the temple was already a duplicate. The family is hailed as "Kovil Heroes" for confusing the thieves with five identical fake idols, and they are rewarded a large check—enough for Murali’s down payment.
